The Ausesken were an Iberian people settled in the region around modern Vic, in the interior of Catalonia. Their coinage follows the broader Iberian bronze tradition of the second century BC, produced in the decades following Rome's decisive campaigns against Carthage in the peninsula — a period when native minting proliferated rapidly as local elites sought to manage regional exchange without direct Roman oversight.
