Obverse description A muscular bearded giant, nude, is depicted stooping forward in a rocky riverbed (the Elbe), bracing his back as if supporting a bridge above him; the Dresden city coat of arms appears on the left pillar of the bridge, two figures are visible at upper right on the bridge, and a passenger train runs along the top edge. The upper portion of the plaquette features an Art Nouveau-style landscape vignette in low relief, while the artist's signature and opus number appear in the right field.
