| Reverse description | Zeus enthroned to the left upon a high-backed throne, his body semi-draped with himation covering the lower half, the torso bare. In his outstretched right hand he holds an eagle with wings spread, while his left hand grips a long vertical sceptre reaching to the ground. The composition is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition common to Cilician civic coinage. The Greek civic legend ϹΕΛΕΥΚΕΩΝ ΤΩΝ ΠΡΟϹ ΤΩ ΚΑΛΥΚΑΔΝ(Ω) encircles the type within a beaded border, identifying the issuing city of Seleucia on the Calycadnus. |
