| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Domitian facing right, rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style. The emperor's effigy displays a laurel wreath atop his head and paludamentum over the shoulder. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟΣ ΣΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ, identifying him as Autocrator Caesar Domitianus Sebastos Germanicus. The portrait is executed with the characteristic broad, slightly stylised treatment typical of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage of the Flavian period. |
