Reverse description Nike, the goddess of victory, advancing to the left in full stride, her wings spread behind her. She holds a long palm branch in her left hand and raises a wreath in her right hand, symbols of triumph. The regnal date L ΙΘ (Year 19) appears to the left of the figure, referencing the Egyptian dating system used in Alexandrian coinage. The legend ΝΕΙΚΗ ΚΑΤΑ ΒΡΕΤ in the field alludes to the Severan campaigns in Britain, making this type a commemorative issue of considerable historical significance. The flan is irregular and the strike typical of hammered Alexandrian provincial production.
