| Obverse description | Draped bust of Plautilla facing right, her hair arranged in waves and drawn back, portrayed with youthful features in the Severan court style. The legend ΦΟΥΛΟΥΙΑ ΠΛΑΥΤΙΛΛΑ ϹΕΒ runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the empress consort of Caracalla. The portrait is rendered in low relief typical of Alexandrian billon tetradrachm coinage of the early third century AD. |
