Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Nerva facing right, rendered in the Alexandrian style with fine engraving of the laurel wreath and facial features. The legend ΑΥΤ ΝΕΡΟΥΑϹ ΚΑΙϹ ϹΕΒ runs clockwise around the periphery in Greek script, identifying the emperor as Autocrator and Augustus. The portrait displays the characteristic aged physiognomy of Nerva with a thin face and prominent nose, consistent with his imperial iconography. The flan is irregular and slightly off-centre, as typical of hammered provincial coinage of this period.
