Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Nero facing right, rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style with characteristic portraiture of the early Neronian period. The effigy displays a youthful visage with short curling hair beneath the laurel wreath, the neck and shoulder partially draped. The Greek legend is distributed around the periphery of the flan, reading ΝΕΡΩΝ ΚΛΑΥ ΚΑΙΣ ΣΕΒΑ ΓΕΡ ΑΥΤΟ, abbreviating his full imperial titulature. The flan is noticeably irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck provincial silver coinage of the Roman imperial period.
