| Obverse description | Radiate bust of Emperor Nero facing left, wearing an aegis over the shoulder, rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style with characteristic fleshy features and radiating crown. The Greek legend encircles the portrait, reading ΝΕΡΩ ΚΛΑΥ ΚΑΙΣ ΣΕΒ ΓΕΡ ΑΥ, identifying the emperor as Nero Claudius Caesar Sebastos Germanicus Autokrator. The regnal year date L ΙΔ (Year 14, corresponding to 67–68 AD) appears in the lower field. The overall style reflects the refined Alexandrian die-cutting tradition of the Julio-Claudian period. |
