| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Galba facing right, portrayed with the characteristic aged features and strong jaw of his imperial effigy. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΣΕΡΟΥΙ ΓΑΛΒΑ ΑΥΤΟ ΚΑΙΣ ΣΕΒΑ, identifying him as Servius Galba Augustus. The regnal year L Β (Year 2) appears in the lower right field, conforming to the Alexandrian dating convention. The portrait is rendered in the provincial style of the Alexandrian mint, with a somewhat stylised treatment of the laurel wreath. |

| Reverse description | Draped bust of the city-goddess Alexandria facing right, wearing the distinctive elephant scalp headdress that symbolises the city's Ptolemaic heritage and its links to Alexander the Great. Her hair is elaborately arranged and falls in curled locks at the nape of the neck, and she is depicted with a polos or modius crown beneath the elephant headdress. A six-pointed star appears in the lower field to the right of the bust. The Greek ethnic legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΕΑ is inscribed around the periphery, identifying the personification of the city. |
