| Obverse description | Radiate and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, seen from the rear, with the radiate crown bearing multiple spikes prominently rendered. The emperor's portrait displays a youthful bearded effigy with carefully detailed hair, set within a broad circular field. The obverse legend in Greek characters runs around the periphery, naming the emperor in his full Antonine titulature. The cuirass is richly decorated with scale or feather motifs visible at the shoulder, reflecting the high-quality provincial die engraving characteristic of the Edessan mint. The portrait style follows the conventions of Severan-era provincial coinage from Mesopotamia. |
