| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Mamaea facing right, wearing a stephane (diadem crown), with elaborately coiffed hair rendered in the Alexandrian style. The effigy is presented with a high degree of naturalistic modeling characteristic of Severan-era provincial coinage. The encircling Greek legend reads ΙΟΥ ΜΑΜΑΙΑ ϹΕΒ ΜΗΤ ϹΕΒ Κ ϹΤΡΑ, identifying her as Julia Mamaea, Augusta, Mother of the Augustus and of the Camp. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
