Obverse description Laureate head of Septimius Severus facing right, rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's portrait displays his distinctive full beard and laurel wreath, with the legend encircling the bust in Greek characters. The die work is typical of the Alexandrian tetradrachm series of the Severan period, with bold, slightly rough engraving characteristic of Egyptian provincial coinage.
