Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from behind, a distinctive Alexandrian portrait convention. The imperial effigy displays paludamentum over armour, with the legend encircling the bust within a beaded border. The inscription Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΑΙϹ(Α) runs around the periphery in Greek characters, identifying the emperor by his full titulature.
