Additional information

Year 13 of Nero's reign falls squarely within the period when the Alexandrian mint was producing its most carefully executed silver tetradrachms before the systematic debasement that followed. The epithet ΑΡΓΕΙΑ — linking Hera to her cult at Argos — reflects the deliberate Hellenization of imperial religious imagery that characterized Alexandrian coinage under the Julio-Claudians, appealing to the Greek-speaking elite who dominated Egyptian civic life.

RPC I 5271 is among the scarcer reverse types of regnal year 13.
