Reverse description Draped bust of Sarapis facing right, the deity distinguished by his characteristic tall kalathos (modius) atop his head and a laurel wreath encircling it, his garment rendered in flowing folds over the shoulder in typical Alexandrian provincial style. The regnal date legend L Β appears in the field, denoting the second year of Hadrian's reign in the Alexandrian calendar (117–118 AD). The imagery reflects the strong syncretic religious iconography promoted by the Alexandrian mint, associating imperial authority with the chief deity of Alexandria.
