| Reverse description | Full-length figure of Hermes standing facing, with head turned to the left, depicted in classical contrapposto stance. The god holds a purse (marsupium) in his extended right hand and a caduceus (kerykeion) in his left hand, both traditional divine attributes. The date regnal formula L Δ (Year 4) appears in the field, corresponding to the fourth year of Hadrian's reign in the Alexandrian dating system. The figure is rendered in the linear provincial style typical of Alexandrian coinage of the early second century AD. |
