Reverse description Zeus enthroned to left on a high-backed throne, his right hand extended holding a patera and his left hand grasping a long sceptre; before him to the left stands an eagle facing right with wings closed. The regnal date L Γ (Year 3) appears in the left field, corresponding to the third year of Gordian III's reign in the Alexandrian calendar, equivalent to 239-240 AD. The composition follows established Alexandrian tetradrachm iconographic conventions for the depiction of the supreme deity.
