| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter front view, with a gorgoneion emblem on the breastplate. The legend, partially preserved, reads Α Κ Μ ΑΝΤ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ΕΥ, identifying the emperor with his imperial titulature. The portraiture reflects the provincial Alexandrian style of the mid-third century, with characteristic engraving of the cuirass details. |
