| Obverse description | Draped bust of Aquilia Severa facing right, rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style. The empress is depicted with her hair elaborately arranged and drawn back, characteristic of early third-century imperial portraiture. The circular Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ΑΚΥΛΙΑ ϹΕΥΗΡΑ ϹΕΒ surrounds the effigy, identifying her as Julia Aquilia Severa Augusta, second wife of Emperor Elagabalus. |

Year 5 of Elagabalus's reign in Egypt — the final full regnal year before his murder in March 222 — places this issue at the peak of the court's dysfunction in Rome. The Alexandrian mint continued producing billon tetradrachms on its own calendar system regardless, the Egyptian regnal year running roughly August to August and insulating provincial coinage production from the chaos at the center.
The Dattari 4159 attribution traces to Giovanni Dattari's foundational 1901 corpus, still the backbone of Alexandrian numismatic classification despite over a century of subsequent finds.
