Obverse description Laureate, draped bust of Caracalla facing right, with paludamentum visible on the left shoulder. The emperor's effigy is rendered in the characteristic provincial style of Mesopotamian Edessa, with bold relief and coarse fabric typical of billon tetradrachm-sized issues. The Greek imperial titulature legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading from upper right. The overall artistic treatment reflects the Severan provincial coinage tradition.
