Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with short beard rendered in fine detail. The emperor's effigy exhibits the characteristic mature portraiture of his reign, with laurel wreath binding the hair. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΝΤωΝΕΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor as Antoninus Augustus Pius. The portrait is rendered in the provincial Alexandrian style, slightly less refined than Roman metropolitan issues.
