| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Antoninus Pius, draped in paludamentum and cuirass, facing right and seen from the rear, with the emperor's head turned slightly outward. The portrait displays the characteristic mature, bearded effigy of the emperor in the Antonine style typical of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The encircling Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The overall die work reflects the provincial engraving style of the Alexandrian mint during the latter years of Antoninus Pius's reign. |

A crocodile, emblematic of the Nile, is shown beside him along the lower field. The regnal date legend L ΚΒ (Year 22) appears in the left field, identifying the coin to the twenty-second year of Antoninus Pius's reign. The composition is a canonical Alexandrian type celebrating the bounty of the Nile. |
