| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, with traces of drapery visible at the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the typical Alexandrian provincial style, with a broad, realistic treatment of the emperor's mature facial features. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕ(Β), identifying the emperor with his epithet Eusebes (Pious). The flan is irregular, as characteristic of Alexandrian tetradrachm-series billon coinage of this period. |
