| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, wearing the paludamentum over the cuirass, with the effigy rendered in the Alexandrian provincial style. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕ(Β), identifying the emperor by his titles. The portrait displays the characteristic mature features of the emperor, with a laurel wreath crowning his head. The flan is irregular, as is typical of struck provincial billon tetradrachms of this series. |
