| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Philip I facing right, rendered in three-quarter frontal view, with a gorgoneion depicted on the breastplate of the cuirass. The emperor's portrait exhibits the characteristic broad-featured style of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage. The obverse legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his titles. The field is plain, with the bust occupying the central portion of the design within a dotted border. |

| Reverse description | Standing figure of Sarapis facing right, the god depicted in his customary Hellenistic guise with long draped robes, holding a tall sceptre in his left hand and gathering his drapery with his right. The modius crown typical of Sarapis iconography may be indicated atop his head. The regnal year date is split across the field as L - Γ (Year 3, corresponding to 245-246 AD), flanking the figure to left and right respectively. The design is enclosed within a dotted border, consistent with Alexandrian billon tetradrachm fabric. |
