| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximinus I Thrax facing right, viewed from the rear, rendered in the robust, naturalistic portrait style characteristic of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage. The emperor is depicted with his distinctive thick neck and strong facial features, including a short beard. A wreath of laurel encircles the head, and the cuirass is visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥΤΟ ΜΑΞΙΜΙΝΟϹ ΕΥϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor as Augustus. |
