Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Maximinus Thrax facing right, depicted from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The portrait renders the emperor in the characteristic Severan provincial style, with short radiate laurel wreath framing the strong facial features. The encircling Greek legend runs along the coin's border, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature.

Reverse description Draped bust of Selene facing right, wearing a taenia in her hair, set within a large upward-facing crescent moon that frames the figure from behind. The lunar goddess is rendered in the classical Alexandrian style with fine drapery visible at the shoulder. The regnal year date in the form of the Egyptian year numeral L Δ (year 4) appears to the left in the field, identifying this issue to the fourth year of Maximinus Thrax's reign.
