Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter frontal view. The cuirass is ornamented with a gorgoneion (Medusa head) at the chest, a characteristic emblem of imperial military imagery on Alexandrian coinage. The portrait displays the youthful features associated with Gordian III, with tightly curled hair beneath the laurel wreath. The Greek imperial titulature is arranged around the bust as a peripheral legend. The engraving reflects the distinctive provincial style of the Alexandrian mint during the mid-third century AD.
