| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from the front, with paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder. The obverse legend in Greek runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor with his imperial titulature.
