| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed in three-quarter view from the front, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial effigy displays youthful features consistent with Alexandrian tetradrachm portraiture of the period. The surrounding Greek legend, reading clockwise, gives the emperor's titulature in abbreviated form. |
