Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, seen from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The emperor's effigy is rendered in the provincial Alexandrian style characteristic of the mid-second century AD. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΝΤωΝΕΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ΕΥϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor with his title Sebastos (Augustus) and the epithet Eusebes (Pius).

Reverse description Elpis, the personification of Hope, stands facing left in the field, clad in a long chiton, raising her right hand to hold a flower and gathering her garment with her left hand in the characteristic iconographic gesture. The figure is rendered in the compact, somewhat stylized manner typical of Alexandrian provincial bronze and billon coinage of the Antonine period. The regnal date legend L ΕΝΔΕΚΑΤΟΥ, denoting the eleventh year of Antoninus Pius's reign, appears in the field.
