Obverse description Bare-headed, short-bearded bust of Marcus Aurelius as Caesar, draped in cuirass and paludamentum, facing right and viewed from the rear. The obverse legend reads Μ ΑΥΡΗΛΙϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ in Greek characters surrounding the portrait. The rendering is typical of Alexandrian provincial coinage of the Antonine period, with the youthful, bearded effigy distinguishing Marcus Aurelius as co-regent rather than sole emperor.
