Obverse description Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Saloninus facing right, seen from the front, with the portrait rendered in the provincial style typical of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage. The obverse legend in Greek characters encircles the effigy, reading ΠΟ ΛΙ ΚΟΡ ϹΑΥΑΛΕΡΙΑΝΟϹ Κ ϹΕΒ, identifying the Caesar Publius Licinius Cornelius Saloninus Valerianus. The flan is irregular, consistent with hammered billon provincial issues of the mid-third century AD.
