| Reverse description | Half-length bust of Roma facing left, helmeted, draped and cuirassed, her right hand raised and her left hand holding a sceptre. The goddess is depicted in a martial aspect befitting the divine personification of Rome, with her Corinthian helmet clearly rendered. The regnal year date LE (Year 5) appears in the field, corresponding to the fifth year of Philip I's reign in the Alexandrian calendar, confirming the dating to 247–248 AD. |

| Additional information |
Philip I's fifth regnal year — marked here by the L Ε date — fell directly within his preparations for the Secular Games of 248 AD, the lavish millennial celebration of Rome's founding that he staged at enormous expense. Alexandria's billon tetradrachms continued their steady debasement through his reign, the silver content having dropped so far from earlier imperial standards that "billon" is almost generous.
Köln 2873 and Milne 3781 remain the standard references for die alignment and officina attribution within this year group.
