Additional information

Year five of Marcus Aurelius's Egyptian regnal count — designated by the L Ε — fell during the early phase of the Parthian War, when Lucius Verus was nominally commanding Roman forces in the east while Aurelius managed the empire from Rome. The ΟΜΟΝΟΙΑ type, invoking concord, was struck with particular frequency during the co-reign of the two emperors, almost certainly as deliberate propaganda reinforcing the fiction of harmonious dual rule at a moment when Verus's actual contributions to the war effort were... debatable.

Milne's excavation records from Karnak place this type among the more commonly recovered billon tetradrachms of the period, though the alloy had already degraded significantly from earlier Julio-Claudian standards.
