| Reverse description | A prominent laurel wreath, tied at the base with a ribbon or bow, occupies the full field of the reverse, its branches curving symmetrically to enclose the regnal date legend in the centre. At the apex of the wreath a small globule or bead is visible. The date inscription is rendered in two lines within the wreath, reading L ΕΒΔΟΜΟΥ, denoting Year 7 of Marcus Aurelius's reign in the Egyptian calendar. This wreath-enclosing-date type is a hallmark of the Alexandrian tetradrachm series. |
