Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of the usurper emperor Macrianus facing right, depicted from the front, with the portrait rendered in the provincial Alexandrian style. The effigy shows the emperor in military dress with visible pauldron detail. The encircling Greek legend reads Α Κ Τ Φ ΙΟΥΝ ΜΑΚΡΙΑΝΟϹ Ε ϹΕΒ, identifying him as Augustus. The flan is irregular and slightly rough, characteristic of Alexandrian billon tetradrachms of this period.
