| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, depicted from behind the shoulder in the characteristic Pontic provincial style. The emperor's curly hair and short beard are rendered in fine relief, consistent with his mature portrait type. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits the restrained classicizing style typical of eastern provincial civic coinage of the Hadrianic period. |
