| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Gordian I facing right, seen from the front, with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the characteristic Alexandrian provincial style, with the laurel wreath clearly articulated. The Greek legend reading Α Κ Μ ΑΝ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΜ ΑΦΡ ΕΥϹΕΒ (Autokrator Kaisar Marcus Antonius Gordianus Sempronius Africanus Eusebes) runs around the periphery of the coin. |
