Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Claudius II Gothicus facing right, viewed from the rear, with the portrait rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's features are boldly struck, with the laurel wreath clearly defined atop the head. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ Κ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying him as Augustus. The flan is irregular, typical of late third-century Alexandrian billon tetradrachms.
