| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maximian facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the provincial Alexandrian style. The emperor's head bears a radiate or laureate crown, with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder visible below the cuirass. The encircling Greek legend reads Α Κ ΜΑ ΟΥΑ ΜΑΞΙΜΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor as Augustus. The portrait displays the characteristic robust style of late third-century Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage. |
