| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Maximian facing right, truncation visible at the shoulder. The emperor is depicted in military dress with paludamentum, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Alexandrian tetradrachm coinage. The Greek legend ΜΑΞΙΜΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ ('Maximianus Augustus') encircles the effigy, running from lower left to upper right around the periphery of the flan. |

| Reverse description | A wreath, tied at the base with a knot or loop, encloses a three-line Greek inscription giving the regnal year date. The legend ΕΤΟΥϹ Η within the wreath denotes 'Year 8' of Diocletian's reign in the Alexandrian dating system, corresponding to 292–293 AD, with the letter Α below indicating the officina or a subsidiary numeral. The reverse field is otherwise plain, with no exergual line. |
