| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, rendered in three-quarter rear view, a characteristic portraiture convention employed on eastern provincial issues of his reign. The effigy displays a laureate wreath atop the emperor's head, with visible drapery folds over the left shoulder and the cuirass suggesting military authority. A Greek legend encircles the bust within the field, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΤΡΑ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ Π Π ΥΠ Γ, identifying the emperor with his full titulature. The die work reflects the civic mint tradition of Amisus, with a bold, high-relief portrait typical of Pontic provincial coinage of the Hadrianic period. |
