Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Diocletian facing right, rendered in the late Roman provincial style characteristic of the Alexandrian mint. The emperor's effigy displays a radiate wreath of laurel, with visible drapery at the shoulder truncation. The Greek legend ΔΙΟΚΛΗΤΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ (Diocletian Augustus) encircles the bust, running clockwise around the periphery of the flan.
