| Reverse description | Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Athena facing right, holding a spear directed forwards across the field. The goddess is depicted in her martial aspect, with crested Corinthian helmet and visible body armour, rendered in a bold if somewhat summary provincial style. To the left of the bust appears the regnal year indicator L (Egyptian year symbol), and to the right the numeral Δ (4), together denoting Year 4 of Diocletian's reign in the Alexandrian calendar, corresponding to 295–296 AD. The design fills the flan within a beaded border. |
