Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of Carinus as Caesar facing right, rendered in three-quarter frontal perspective, with visible plate armour and paludamentum at the shoulder. The imperial effigy displays a bearded portrait with strong facial features characteristic of late third-century Alexandrian engraving style. A Greek legend surrounds the bust, naming the emperor in his role as Caesar. The flan is slightly irregular, with a granular border visible at the coin's edge.
