| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Carinus facing right, depicted from the front with paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the typical late Roman provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust in the field, reading Α Κ Μ Α ΚΑΡΙΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ, identifying the emperor by his abbreviated titles. The coin exhibits the characteristic green patina and irregular fabric of struck billon tetradrachms from this period. |
