Reverse description Hygieia, goddess of health, standing facing with head turned to the left, clad in draped garments. She holds a short sceptre in her left hand and extends a patera in her right hand from which a large serpent feeds; the serpent is entwined around an altar at her side. The composition reflects a votive iconography connected to the dynastic prayer for victory expressed in the surrounding legend ΥΠΕΡ ΝΙΚΗϹ ΤΩΝ ΚΥΡΙΩΝ ϹΕΒ, meaning 'For the victory of the imperial lords.' The style is characteristic of the provincial coinage of Carrhae in Mesopotamia during the joint reign of Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus.
