| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Maximian facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Alexandrian coinage. The emperor's effigy displays pauldron and drapery folds across the shoulder. The circular legend ΜΑΞΙΜΙΑΝΟϹ ϹΕΒ (Maximianus Sebastos) runs around the periphery in Greek characters. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hammered billon tetradrachm production at Alexandria. |
